Matthew 5:14, 16 – “You are the light of the world...let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” In the world there is a lot of darkness – spiritually and morally. Some benefits of light: It expels darkness; it enables a person to see what is around them; it reveals obstacles and dangers. God has placed His supernatural light within us in the person of His Holy Spirit. It is His light that shines in and through us. In John 14:12, Jesus declared that His followers will do the works that He did and even greater. He did spiritual works such as healing the sick and delivering the oppressed. He led the way with charitable deeds like feeding the hungry. In 2015 let us allow our light to shine in greater ways that our great God might be glorified. It takes courage to lay hands on the sick and pray for them. It takes time and effort to reach out to the needy. But let’s do it - others will be blessed!

It was January 2014. While I was looking for an item at a local thrift store (a shop where second-hand goods are sold), the Spirit of God spoke to me challenging me to open such a store. I took the idea to our board of directors. We then had to go through a process with the government to obtain approval. Two years and nine months later, the store was opened on September 22nd, 2016. Sometimes, when God gives a vision, it takes time for it to come to pass.

Habakkuk 2:2 declares, “For the vision is yet for an appointed time.; But at the end it will speak and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for I; Because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” Has God given you a vision for something? Keep on trusting Him to lead the way and wait for His timing. He is not a man that He should lie. He is faithful.

Amisi greeted me with a big smile and said, “You gave me an idea and now I have a business!” He is a young man who lives at the children’s home that FOTWM supports. Last November he escorted me to the home one day and I found out that he was not working. I encouraged him to find something to sell. He came up with the idea to sell eggs in front of the home. It’s a busy area where lots of people walk by. He showed me that he started with three crates and now has many more. He is also buying cakes wholesale and sells to shops. He was very excited because he is doing well. He has even been able to assist the home financially. I asked him to remember FOTWM when he becomes a millionaire – it can happen. One word of encouragement can change a person’s life. Who can you encourage today?
